"We are not bound by tradition, nor are we limited to our own understanding or to the wisdom of men. In short, this is a very unusual university."
- President Kim B. Clark
Student Support area created within Student
Services and Activities, new leadership roles filled
The Student Services and Activities administrative area at Brigham Young University-Idaho has been restructured, creating a new organization known as Student Support.
This new group is comprised of offices that serve student needs in records and registration, financial aid and scholarships, admissions, and internships and career services.
Kip Harris, who had previously served as director of Admissions and Scholarships, will assume the role of managing director of the new Student Support area.
"The creation of Student Support is vitally important to the progress of the university," said Garth Hall, vice president of Student Services and Activities. "Strong leadership is needed in this area as we move forward on several important projects, including a new student information system and the packaging of financial aid and scholarships. Kip Harris has the knowledge and experience needed, and I'm confident in his abilities."
Oversight of Scholarships will move from the Admissions Office to the Financial Aid Office. The new Financial Aid and Scholarships Office will be directed by Aaron Sanns. He had previously served as Scholarship Manager.
Rob Garrett will serve as director of the reorganized Admissions Office. Garrett had previously served as the office's Enrollment Manager.
"I'm looking forward to serving with Aaron and Rob in the new Student Support area," said Harris. "I've worked with them both extensively and I'm familiar with their strengths and abilities. They will be a great asset to the university in these new roles."
Student Records and Registration, formerly known as the Registrar's Office, will continue to be directed by Kyle Martin. Guy Hollingsworth also remains as director of Internships and Career Services Office.
Student Support joins two other areas within Student Services and Activities: Student Well-Being, overseen by dean of students Kevin Miyasaki and Student Activities and Peer Instruction, led by managing director Clark Gilbert.
