All-American Boys Chorus to perform

at BYU-Idaho

The All-American Boys Chorus from Southern California will bring its troupe of young singers to Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg for a concert featuring their program entitled "Salute to America and Her Music."

The choir, which is on a tour of western Canada and the western states, will perform Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kirkham Auditorium. Tickets are $8 for the general public and $4 for BYU-Idaho students. They may be purchased at the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office, by calling 496-2230 or online at www.byui.edu/tickets. A preshow dinner will be served for $12 extra at 6 p.m. in the Manwaring Center.

The 36-voice ensemble, whose members range from 9 to 14 years old, will present audience favorites from America's musical history. There will also be medleys featuring the California sounds of The Beach Boys, tunes from the Roaring Twenties and swinging songs from the Big Band era. A patriotic tribute spotlighting the music of George M. Cohan and John Philip Sousa will include a tribute to past and present members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

"The chorus has been described as outstanding, pure energy and simply wonderful," says Music Director Wesley Martin. "We've also developed a strong reputation for ‘theatricality'-for doing more than just standing there and singing."

Executive Director Anthony S. Manrique notes that "throughout our 36-year history, the All-American Boys Chorus has provided boys - nearly 800 of them to date - with the training, motivation and opportunity to develop and exercise leadership qualities within an exceptional program of choral music."

The chorus has appeared on the Disney Channel, in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade and in TV and radio commercials for Kentucky Fried Chicken, Mazda and TWA. Among other credits is an appearance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and William Hall Master Chorale at the Hollywood Bowl.
