Film Workshops to take place throughout July at BYU-Idaho

Community members, students and faculty are invited to attend a student film workshop each Thursday in July from 5-7 p.m. in the Jacob Spori Building, room 71.  Altone Viera, a Brigham Young Unversity-Idaho student who has taken film classes in New York, will be teaching the basic process for starting up a film project.

"Filmmaking is a beautiful craft that people don't get to see or experience hands-on everyday.  I just want to give people a little sample of it," Viera said.

The workshop is sponsored by the Talent Exploration Board, a part of the BYU-Idaho Activities Council whose mission is to help students magnify their performance art skills.

Anyone who has a real interest in learning about film is asked to come and be a part of the workshop, community members included.  Equipment will be provided as participants work on a film project as a group from start to finish.

"It's the only way to really learn how to make a film," Viera said, "to go from start to finish in a hands-on process.  I want people to have fun as we learn about film."
