"We are not bound by tradition, nor are we limited to our own understanding or to the wisdom of men. In short, this is a very unusual university."
-President Kim B. Clark
Testing Center schedule for June 28 and August 24
For summer test days, June 28 and August 24, the Testing Center is open for scheduled tests from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. - the last test goes out at 9 p.m. To control lines, some tests have been scheduled to close on earlier times during the day (those hours should be announced by your teacher) - those tests will be available up to that hour.
During Fall and Winter Semesters, in an effort to administer final exams at Brigham Young University-Idaho more effectively, a process has been implemented for entering the Testing Center. In anticipation of finals week, students should become familiar with and follow the schedule found at http://www.byui.edu/registrarsoffice/TestWeekSchedule.htm.
Students who come to the Testing Center during the time their test would be given in class will be allowed into a priority line. Those who come during a time when they are not scheduled will be permitted to wait in a standby line. Lines at the Testing Center are inevitable. However, cooperation from students in following the test week schedule will keep the lines manageable.
The Testing Center's finals week hours for Fall 2006 are as follows:
Monday, December 18: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Last test goes out at 9 p.m.)
Tuesday, December 19: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Last test goes out at 9 p.m.)
Wednesday, December 20: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Last test goes out at 5 p.m.)
All testing for online courses will be done in the Library. All finals for online courses will be given in the Library, room 344. Instructions for scheduling online tests are given in each Blackboard class. Students and instructors should also consider the following:
- Instructors are required to give a final exam or meet the class according to the test week schedule. For classes which do not start on the hour, schedule tests for the full hour in which the class meets. For example, if a class meets MW 9:35-10:50, schedule the tests for the time reserved for classes meeting MW 10:00-10:50.
- In cases where you have conflicting examinations, or more than three examinations in one day, individual arrangements for alternative test times should be made with the instructor.
- Final exams for any class not fitting this schedule, including those which meet one day per week, should be given during the last class period or at another time arranged by the instructor.
- Travel plans are not considered extenuating circumstances for adjusting your test schedule. Any exceptions must be approved by Phil Packer, Associate Academic Vice President.
Students should note the following:
Cell phones should be turned off and kept out of sight. It is best not to bring them into the Testing Center at all.
Electronic devices of any kind are not allowed in the Testing Center.
The entry area in the new Testing Center will only be used for waiting in line to receive a test. Students will not be allowed to sit and study, as was a common practice in the old library center.
Students are encouraged to bring only the items they need to take the test, as they will not be able to leave things in the entry area of the testing center.
If students have backpacks, they must be able to fit them under the desks.
