Stephen Allen received degrees in piano performance from the Eastman School of Music and San Jose State University. He earned his doctoral degree in piano pedagogy and literature from Indiana University, where he minored in both music education and musicology. His solo performances include appearances throughout North America and Japan where he presented master classes for Music International-Japan (associated with the National Federation of Music Clubs) as a guest performer and adjudicator. He performs frequently in chamber music settings. With the Trio Terra Nova he performed for the International Double Reed Society in Banff, Canada. In 2004 he was recognized for teaching excellence with the University Faculty Association Award. Dr. Allen is currently Director of Piano Studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho, where he has taught since 1986.
