The University Orchestra is a non-auditioned string ensemble designed to provide intermediate to advanced students a challenging and fulfilling orchestral experience. The ensemble typically numbers 50-70 players, composed primarily of those not majoring in music. The group focuses on the development of orchestral playing and gives students the opportunity to prepare for participation in auditioned ensembles. The University Orchestra presents at least one concert each semester, with occasional involvement in collaborative productions such as Handel's Messiah.
