Steve Allen, piano

Steve Allen

 

Stephen Allen, a native of Ogden, Utah, received degrees in piano performance from the Eastman School of Music and San Jose State University. He earned his doctoral degree in piano pedagogy and literature from the University of Indiana, where he attained additional degrees in both music education and musicology. His performances include appearances throughout North America, including recent tours of Yokosuka and Yokohama, Japan, where he presented master classes for Music International-Japan (associated with the National Federation of Music Clubs) as guest performer and adjudicator. As an active chamber musician he performs frequently. With the Trio Terra Nova he has been invited to perform most recently in 2002 for the International Double Reed Society in Banff, Canada. Dr. Allen is currently Director of Piano Studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho, where he has taught since 1986. He and his wife, Rebecca, are the parents of four children.

 

Brent Jones, Piano

Brent Jones

 

Brent Jones teaches piano, music theory, and music literature courses. He received his bachelor’s degree in piano and music theory and his master’s degree in musicology from Brigham Young University. He earned his doctorate in piano pedagogy, performance, and composition at the University of Northern Colorado. He has a variety of interests both in and outside of music, especially in other languages and cultures. He and his wife, Marybeth are parents of five children. Dr. Jones is currently completing online exercises for the second year of music theory classes at BYU-Idaho.

 

Daniel Kerr, Organ

Daniel Kerr

 

Daniel Kerr is the Director of the Organ Studies and Aural Skills programs, and teaches music theory and orchestration. He earned his bachelor's, master's, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. He has performed extensively throughout the western United States, including appearances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, conventions of the American Guild of Organists, and in recitals on the organs of Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Prior to his appointment at BYU-Idaho, Dr. Kerr was a lecturer in music theory at the University of Southern California and California State University, Los Angeles, musical director of Foothill Summer Theatre, and organist at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.
