The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is a nationally recognized competency exam administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). The exam is offered twice per year, usually on a Saturday in April and October. All engineering students are encouraged to take the FE exam as soon as possible within or before graduating. The exams are administered at the following locations in Idaho: University of Idaho, Idaho State University, and in Boise.
Students wishing to take the FE exam must submit their application to the state licensing board by October 1 (for the exam in April), or July 1 (for the exam in October). The application can be found on the following website, on the right-hand side titled "Engineering Intern Application." Note that this application will need to be signed by the department chair.
