Resources for Math 108
Under "Test-out" are study guides for the Provident Living and Statistical Literacy Exams. These guides describe the topics tested and the resources available to aid students in their exam preparations.
"Technology" provides resources for learning how to use graphing calculators, computer spreadsheets, and online loan calculators.
"Case Studies" gives a description of the case study method as employed in the physical and mathematical sciences. Also included is an example of a case study used in Math 108 that models Problem-based Learning.
"Enrichment Materials" offers various resources (added to over time) that at the moment includes links to inspired advice regarding personal & family finances on the Church's Provident Living website; instructional videos that explain the "time value of money"; and a collection of mathematical articles that explore mathematical ideas within the context of the restored gospel.
Finally, under "Guidelines for Instructors" expectations are set forth that instructors of Math 108 should read carefully and meet fully. These include course topics, departmental exams, implementation of the BYU-Idaho Learning Model, and grading guidelines.
