The Learning & Teaching Council is charged with enhancing the quality and scholarship of learning and teaching at BYU-Idaho. This council is comprised of the chairs of seven Learning & Teaching Committees. It is chaired by the Associate Academic Vice President of Instruction. This council meets at least once each semester to coordinate resources from the Academic Office and the efforts of over forty faculty serving on the various committees noted below:
Promote best practices through faculty recognition and gatherings

Foster and share educational practices and ideas for ongoing, extended discussions
·Learning Communities
·Spori Summit Retreats
Encourage investigation and sharing of faculty research on learning and teaching
·Brown Bag Lunch Discussions
·Faculty Conference
Publish findings and insights from faculty including conferences, site visits, and research
·Perspectives Journal
·Learning & Teaching Website stories
Advertise and allocate resources for Thomas E. Ricks funds
·Thomas E. Ricks Grants
Coordinate selection and travel for faculty groups while developing cross-disciplinary friendships
·Best Practices site visits
·Teaching Conferences
The council and its related committees are charged with enhancing the quality and scholarship of learning and teaching at BYU-Idaho using tenants of the Learning Model. Faculty members of each college are represented on all committees and work under the direction of the Learning & Teaching Council.
