New Faculty Handbook

December 31, 2012

Writer: Hayden Coombs

In a recent email to faculty, Associate Vice President Kelly Burgener announced that a revised copy of the new faculty handbook is now available to all faculty. A PDF version of the handbook is available to all, while a limited number of print copies are available to each department.

Brother Burgener encouraged all faculty to read the entire guidebook and offer feedback prior to mid-term Winter Semester.

"I suggest that department chairs convene a small ad hoc committee within the department to collect and review feedback and suggested improvements or additions department members feel are important. I would hope that this department committee could then prioritize the top issues they feel need correcting or feel may be missing. I would also ask the committee to suggest alternative language. A process like this will allow me to receive 30 booklets with suggestions for revisions rather than one from each faculty member across campus."

Following completion of this final step, the handbook will then be posted on the University website where it can be accessed at any time, where links can be set up, and where it can be updated on an annual basis.

Brother Burgener also asked faculty to delete or throw out any copy of the faculty handbook by the end of Winter Semester to insure that there are no obsolete copies floating around.
