Passionate, Innovative and Enlightened Teaching

The faculty Dialogue Committee is piloting a new format for our Brown Bag Discussions similar to the TED Talk videos and is announcing the PIE Talk series (Passionate, Innovative and Enlightened teaching). 

The Why and How of Clear Communication - Caryn Esplin

What is your message? Who is your audience? Why should they listen?Prepare to be enlightened with new ideas to clearly communicate your message. Caryn Esplin shares her vision and inspires others in her new book with the creative FOCUS acronym: Formulate - Organize - Contrast - Unify - Simplify. Come learn the why and how of clear communication from an innovative course designer, visual media practitioner, and passionate teacher. 

I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus: And rarely answer a question - Robert Wahlquist

Have you noticed how the Savior rarely answered a question directly? Why do you think he used that approach?What approach did he use instead? Robert Wahlquist will present 3 approaches the Savior took when He was asked a question. Robert believes these approaches are applicable in all educational disciplines.

In commemoration of this new series and to celebrate Pi day (3.14) the committee will serve a piece of pie to each participant.  Due to the new format and seating lunch will not be available for this March presentation.  Both PIE Talk sessions will be on Thursday, March 13.  Please plan to attend one of the sessions.
