Applied Second Language Proficiency
Students with advanced foreign language skills campus-wide may complement their declared majors by following the prescribed sequence that demonstrates proficiency in a second language.
• One approved upper-division class in Chinese, French, German, Russian, or Spanish
• One 2-credit independent study class in the foreign language with coursework applied to the student's chosen discipline
• Completion of the computerized Oral Proficiency Interview (OPIc) arranged through the department (Requires a minimal test fee.)
A notation of Applied Second Language Proficiency will appear on the student's transcript. The Department will issue students a certificate with their OPI score.
