Kathryn Davis Fellowships for Peace: Investing in the Study of Critical Languages
Middlebury College is pleased to announce The Kathryn Davis Fellowships for Peace: Investing in the Study of Critical Languages. These 100 fellowships are made possible by a generous gift from Kathryn Davis, to address today's critical need for increased language proficiency in the United States.The Kathryn Davis Fellowships are for study of Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Portuguese, and Russian at the Middlebury College Language Schools.
The Davis Fellowships are merit-based and intended for exceptionally qualified individuals with demonstrated interest in one or more of the following areas: international, global, or area studies; international politics and economics; peace and security studies; and/or conflict resolution. Individuals in other fields, including working professionals, are encouraged to apply if their field of expertise requires them to study one of the critical languages listed above.To be considered for the Davis Fellowship, you must have a complete Language School application on file. Note that the Language Schools application includes a nonrefundable processing fee of $65.To apply for the Kathryn Davis Fellowship, you must both apply for admission to an eligible Language School and submit a separate fellowship application.PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to submit additional copies of your Language Schools application: once complete, a copy will be shared with the Kathryn Davis Fellowships for Peace selection committee. We recommend that you do not wait until January to submit both applications. In order to be considered for the fellowship, your Language School application must be on file and complete. If a piece of your Language School application is delayed for some reason, your fellowship application will not be reviewed. If you need time to work on the fellowship essay, we suggest that you apply for admission in the fall, and submit your fellowship application later (but no later than 30 January).
Amount of Award
100 fellowships cover the full comprehensive fee (tuition, room, and board) for summer language study from beginner to graduate levels.

3. Three copies of the one-page Davis Fellowship essay.
4. Three copies of a resume or curriculum vitae.
