Mapping Network Drive - Job Aid

Step 1: Open your H:\ or another folder such as My Computer to view the folders window.

Step 2: Go to Tools and click on Map Network Drive...

Step 3: Type in the location to the folder you want to access.

Drive: Specifies the letter you wish to connect the folder to. Each folder you connect to will have a different letter, representing a different drive.

Folder: The Folder you want to access. For example: If a faculty member was to map to their web page, they would type: \\byui.edu\web\emp\username (no dollar sign)

Reconnecting at logon: This allows you to be automatically mapped to the folder the next time you logon to the same computer. If you logon at a different computer, you will have to re-map the folder again.

Step 4: Click Finish. A new window will open displaying the folder you mapped to. Your path to this folder is the drive you selected.

If you click on the button called Folders, you can see your folder linked to a drive on your computer.

Disconnecting: To Disconnect a Network Drive, go to tools, click on Disconnect Network Drive..., and select the drives you wish to disconnect.
