Using the Service Status Dashboard

IT post the status of major services on the IT Service Status dashboard located in the upper-right of the BYU-Idaho IT main page. When you click on a service, you will be routed to a Twitter feed that gives you additional information about what is affecting the service.


Service Status Definitions

Service Status Definition
Green circle with a check mark in it. The service is functioning normally.
Yellow circle with an X in it.

The service has experienced a minor issue. The issue generally only affects a small group of customers.

A red circle with an exclamation mark in it.

The service has experienced a major issue and is not currently available to most or all customers.


Service Status Issues

IT diligently monitors the status of the systems and servers that run most of our IT services as BYU-Idaho. There are times, however, where you may become aware of a problem beware we are. To report a suspected issue, please follow the process outlined below:

During Normal Business Hours

During normal business hours, please contact the BYU-Idaho Support Center (BSC)) at 1.208.496.1411 or use the Live Chat function located on the right-hand-side side of every BYU-Idaho website page. If the telephone message confirms that we are already aware of the problem, you can hang up. Otherwise, please provide the BSC with as much information as possible, so they can accurately relay the information to IT.

The BSC is open M-F from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. MDT and Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. MDT.

Outside Normal Business Hours

If you encounter a service outage outside of normal business hours, please message the BSC by using the Live Chat feature located on the right-hand-side of every BYU-Idaho website page.

Pathway Students

If you are a current Pathway student and are experiencing technical difficulties, please contact the Pathway Support Center.


Communicating Service Status Issues

University Advisory Email

If a service has experienced a major problem or an outage, the University will send a university-wide email to those affected to ensure they have the latest information.

Social Media

If a major problem or outage has occurred to an IT service, IT will post regular and up-to-date information on the IT Twitter feed  and our Facebook page.

Minor incidents and other critical information may also be posted to the IT social media pages.     

The IT social media pages also include a variety of tips, tricks, and links to articles to help you get the most out of BYU-Idaho IT services.

IT Newsroom

If a service has experienced a major problem or an outage, IT will post this information in the IT Newsroom located on the top of the BYU-Idaho IT main page.

I-Learn Login Page: Announcement Area

If a service has experienced a major problem or outage and it affects I-Learn, information about the service status will be posted on the I-Learn main login page.
