This article explains the process for reporting junk or phishing emails to Microsoft. 

Reporting Phishing and Junk Emails to Microsoft from Outlook Online 


NOTE: "Outlook Online" here refers to the version of Microsoft Office that you access through your BYU-Idaho account. 

  1. Log in to your BYU-Idaho account and click the "Email" tab. 
  2. Open the email you want to report to Microsoft. 
  3. In the top-right corner of the email you would like to report, there will be a tiny envelope with an exclamation point on it. Click the envelope. 
  4. From the drop-down menu that appears, click "Phishing" or "Junk," depending on what type of email you want to report. 
  5. A pop-up will appear asking if you really want to report the email. Click "Report." 

The email will then be sent to Microsoft. 

 

Reporting Phishing and Junk Emails to Microsoft from the Outlook App 


NOTE: "Outlook App" here refers to the version of Microsoft Outlook that you can install and then access from your computer desktop. 

  1. Open the Outlook App. 
  2. Open the email you want to report to Microsoft.  
  3. In the top-right corner of the Outlook screen, there will be an icon labeled "Report Message." Click the icon. 
  4. From the drop-down menu that appears, click "Phishing" or "Junk," depending on what type of email you want to report. 
  5. A pop-up will appear asking if you really want to report the email. Click "Report."  

The email will then be sent to Microsoft.
