This article will explain how to set up 2-factor authentication, or 2FA, on a mobile phone.

NOTE: Please make sure that 2FA is already set up before you try to access Workday via the Workday mobile app.


Setting Up 2FA via Duo Mobile

1. Download the Duo Mobile app. For more information about installing the Duo Mobile app, please check out our articles about Duo Mobile for iPhone, Duo Mobile for Android, and Duo Mobile for Windows Phone. After you have downloaded and installed the app, tap I have Duo Mobile installed.

2. Sign in to your BYU-Idaho account.

3. Tap Add a new device.

4. Tap Call Me.

5. You'll receive a phone call from Duo Security. Answer the phone and follow the over-the-phone instructions.

6. After you hang up the phone, you'll be asked what type of device you wish to use to authenticate. Choose Mobile Phone from the list provided.

7. You'll then be taken to a screen where you'll need to enter and confirm a phone number for your account. Enter the same phone number that you entered in Workday into the box provided, then tap the box next to the line This number already exists and will be replaced.

8. Tap Continue.

9. You'll be taken to a screen where you'll be asked what type of phone you wish to use - iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, or other. Select your phone type and tap Continue.

10. The next screen will prompt you to install the Duo Mobile app if you have not done so already. Tap I have Duo Mobile installed, then Take me to Duo Mobile

11. You'll be asked if you want to confirm leaving your browser. Confirm that you want to leave the browser.

12. You'll be taken to the Duo Mobile app, where you'll see the BYU-Idaho logo and a picture of a key. This means that you have successfully linked Duo Mobile with your account. Close out of the app and return to your browser.

13. Return to the BYU-Idaho home page and log in to your BYU-Idaho account again.

14. You'll be taken to the main authentication screen. Tap the box next to Remember me for 30 days, then tap Send me a push and respond to the notification.

Setting Up 2FA via Phone Call

1. Log in to your BYU-Idaho account.

2. Tap the box next to Remember me for 30 days.

3. Tap Call Me.

4. You'll receive a phone call to the phone number that you previously entered in Workday. Answer the phone and follow the over-the-phone instructions to access your account.

Setting Up 2FA via Text Message

1. Log in to your BYU-Idaho account.

2. Tap the box next to Remember me for 30 days.

3. Tap Enter a Passcode.

4. You will receive a text message to the phone number that you previously entered in Workday. The text message will contain a passcode. Enter the passcode to access your account.
