Contract Cancellation Policy (On-campus)

Revised:  March 16, 2011

Canceling a Contract

On-campus contracts can be canceled online through the Housing & Student Living Office Web Contracting program located on our Web site. Students can also send an e-mail to Housing@byui.edu stating their intent to cancel their contract.
A student can cancel his or her contract up to 61 days prior to the contract start date. In other words, it can be canceled anytime about two months prior before the contract beginning date (the move-in day before the semester). A $50 termination fee is assessed at the time of cancellation.

No cancellation after 61 Days

A student cannot cancel his or her contract 61 days or less before the contract starts or once the semester has begun. At this point the student must try to sell the contract themselves via the Bulletin Board or on the Housing & Student Living Office Web Contracting program.

Selling On-Campus Contracts

To cancel or sell an on-campus contract online, refer to the following steps:

  • Go to: www.byui.edu/housing

  • Select the "Click to view/edit your on-campus contract" button in the center of the Housing & Student Living Office page.

  • The next page should show your current contracts.

  • Next to the contract, click the "Details" button.

  • If cancelation is still possible, a "Cancel Contract" button will appear at the bottom of the details screen.

  • If cancelation is not an option, to sell a contract, select the third bullet in the left-hand corner titled "Buy/Sell Existing Contract."

  • From there a student can post his or her contract for sale.
