Brigham Young University - Idaho

 

This annual travel study program is a rendezvous with the American past and its people. Students study on site where American history was made and where LDS church history and doctrine may be felt and testimonies strengthened. They come to appreciate as never before the Restoration and Mormon heritage in the context of American events, culture and ideas.

Dates                                            

The 2013 tour will begin on August 1 at the BYUI campus, leave for the East Coast on August 8th and return on August 27th. See the information packet/application (available at the link below) for a tentative itinerary.

Costs

The tour fees = $2,995. They include:

• Round trip airfare from Salt Lake City to eastern United States
• Bus Transportation
• Hotels
• Two meals per day (usually breakfast and dinner)
• Entrance fees

Students are responsible for covering:

• One meal per day (usually lunch) & snacks
• Souvenirs
• Tuition (which will vary depending on the number of credits taken)

Courses

A total of 9 credits may be earned. Classes include:

• FDAMF 101 -- American Foundations (3 credits)
• HIST 120 -- U.S. History to 1877 (3 credits)
• HIST 370 -- Early American History to 1800 (3 credits)
• ENG 251 -- Fundamentals of Literary Interpretation (3 credits)
• ENG 334 -- American LIterature, Colonial to Romantic (3 credits)
• FDHUM 102-- Transitions in Art and Curlture (3 credits)
• FDREL 324 -- Doctrine and Covenants, 1st half (2 credits)
• FDREL 325 -- Doctrine and Covenants, 2nd half (2 credits)
• FDREL 341 -- Latter-day Saint History from 1805-1844 (2 credits)

Requirements

Participants must be accepted to BYU-Idaho and in good standing. Students on any track may apply for the tour.
