EXPORTING EMAILS

For various reasons you may want to export a copy of your emails to your local hard drive. IMAP downloads emails from the server. You may decide you need to download a copy to keep, because if for any reason the server or your account is unavailable (Student accounts are deleted approximately a year after the last semester you attended BYU-Idaho) , you will not have access to these emails.

 

In Outlook 2007, choose the File Menu -> Import and Export

Export to a File

Choose a personal folder file which is the Office-Compatible Email Folder format.

Choose all subfolders to export.

Browse to a file location, but don’t forget where you save the backup.pst file. Click Finish

Name your Personal Folder. (there is no need for a password) Click Ok

You will see the progress of the export

You can open up this folder in Microsoft Office 2007 on any computer

Find your backup mailbox file below your regular accounts in the navigation bar on the left.
