If you use Outlook Web Access to manage folders,

and you would like to access those folders from home using an E-Mail Client, you must use IMAP4 protocol.

Off Campus IMAP4 and POP3 are available protocols that allow you to download messages to your Computer’s local hard drive.

From the Control Panel Select mail

Configure Email Accounts

Create a new Email Account.

Create an account using the default option “Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP”. And click Next.

Manually configure server settings. Click Next.

Choose Internet E-Mail. This will configure an IMAP mailbox.

Fill in the information as described above, including your first name, email address, incoming and outgoing server.

Be sure to select the account type of IMAP, and use mail.byui.edu for the incoming server.

 

Your Username is STUDENTS/NetID/YourEmailAlias (the part that appears before @byui.edu). Click on More settings to enable a secure connection.

On the Advanced tab, change the Incoming server IMAP port from 143 to 993, this allows secure email downloads. Be sure to sellect the encryption type of SSL.

 

Open up Outlook 2007. And find your account in the navigation pane on the left.

Right-click the navigation pane and select IMAP Folders.

The IMAP folders dialog will search for folders you have maintained using Outlook Web Access. Subscribe to the folders you want to download.
