mESSAGE BOARD

Overview

To provide a student-led organization that identifies and assists individuals in their efforts to overcome disadvantaged backgrounds.

The Heber J. Grant Scholarship Program was created to facilitate the enrollment, support, and participation of students who have overcome disadvantaged backgrounds. The program covers three main areas:

  1. Future Students
Individuals accepted into the program who have not yet been admitted to BYU–Idaho will receive contact from program representatives. Representatives will help future students prepare for admission to BYU–Idaho. Objectives

  2. Current Students
As BYU–Idaho students, those who qualify for the Heber J. Grant Program have the opportunity to receive scholarship awards for two semesters at a time. These awards are based on a student’s involvement and use of time. Objectives

  3. Involvement Opportunities for Current Students
Students within the program organize efforts to teach the principles of self-reliance, stewardship, and replenishment to current and future BYU–Idaho students. Though Heber J. Grant Scholars are encouraged to participate on these committees, any BYU–Idaho student can join. Get Involved

The program is built on the principles of self-reliance, stewardship, and replenishment.

Self-Reliance: "Nothing destroys the individuality of a man, a woman, or a child as much as the failure to be self-reliant." (President Heber J. Grant)

Stewardship: "And whoso is found a faithful, a just, and a wise steward shall enter into the joy of his Lord, and shall inherit eternal life." (D&C 51:19)

Replenishment: "We have all drunk from wells we did not dig, and warmed ourselves by fires we did not build." (Elder Robert L. Simpson)
