The BYU-Idaho PTA program was approved as a new offering in 2012. Since then, the university has been working to put faculty and staff in place to adminster the program. The University has also remodeled a teaching area for this program in the Hart Building on the 1st floor east side. This program will prepare students to take the national licensure exam and work as a professional physical therapist assistant. This program will also alow the PTA course work to count as credits towards a variety of bachelors degrees on campus.
The university has a goal to begin offering this program to students in the fall semester of 2014. This goal is not set in stone however as the program must be approved to begin by an external accrediting body. We are working hard on this process.
Assuming that we do start on schedule, we will be looking to accept 20 students in our first cohort. If you are interested, you will find out more information on these web pages about this program.
In the future, we will post data here on this page that will be useful to interested applicants. We expect to track and report on profile data for students we accept, graduation rates, employment rates, licensure exam pass rates, and career opportunities.
