7 Steps for a Healthy Semester

With flu season underway, please take precautions to avoid getting sick or passing viruses to other people. Following are some suggestions to keep healthy and to prevent spreading illnesses to others.

Get a Shot

Protect yourself from the seasonal flu by getting vaccinated.

Lather Up

Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for 15-20 seconds, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are also effective.

Tissue Please

Sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve, not into your hands.

Hands Off

Don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth. This is how germs spread.

Keep Away

Avoid close contact with others who are ill.

Stay Home

When sick, limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. Stay home until your fever has been gone for 24 hours (without fever-reducing medications).

Get Help

To determine if you need to seek medical care for the flu, please see the Symptom Checker and also determine if you are high risk. Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, runny or stuffy nose, fatigue, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. For more information .
