Building from Bedrock
While we are actively implementing innovative changes to improve every aspect of the BYU-Idaho experience, one constant remains-our mission. We have anchored ourselves firmly to four cornerstones that form the foundation of all we do.
1. Build testimonies of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and encourage living its principles.
2. Provide a quality education for students of diverse interests, and abilities.
3. Prepare students for lifelong learning for employment, and for their roles as citizens and parents.
4. Maintain a wholesome academic, cultural, social, and spiritual environment.
The primary reason for the existence of BYU-Idaho is to assist individuals in developing and deepening their devotion as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. We, therefore, apply a standard of progress outlined by President Henry B. Eryring: "Every innovation, every change, will be measured against this test of the heart. How would this proposed change build testimony and true conversion to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ in the heart of a student?"
