This course provides an introduction to the science of global climate change with an
emphasis on understanding the patterns, processes, and factors that contribute to global
warming. Topics include the science of weather and climate, the carbon cycle, climate
change through geologic time, climate change impacts on human history, natural and
human in" uences on climate change including causes and solutions, and the economics
and politics of climate change. This course establishes a foundation for students
to understand global climate change and its effects on human, plant, and animal
populations, as well as the social, economic, and political consequences involved.
