Financial Holds

Revised:  September 08, 2011

Policy

A Financial Hold is placed on any student who has any past due debt owing to BYU-Idaho. This hold prohibits a student from obtaining transcripts and from registering for classes.

Procedures

  1. A Financial Hold is placed automatically by the computer if there is any past due amount owing on the student's account.
  2. If a department desires to place a Financial Hold on a student who owes the department some money or has failed to return borrowed items, an invoice should be prepared and sent to the Accounting Office so that the student's account can be charged. This will automatically place a Financial Hold if the charge is not paid.
  3. Financial Holds cannot be placed for debts of students owing to individuals (including employees) or for businesses outside of BYU-Idaho.
