Before Financial Aid Determination Date:

  • If you completely withdraw from your semester classes any time before midnight on the Financial Aid Determination Date:
    • University scholarships will be cancelled and you will be required to return all of these funds.
    • Pell grants and student loans will be evaluated to determine how much you are required to repay.

If you are carrying less than the minimum credits (14 credits for BYU-Idaho scholarships and 12 program applicable credits for federal financial aid) as of midnight on the Financial Aid Determination Date (FADD) and you have a:

  • Pell Grant – The amount of your Pell grant will be prorated according to your change in credit level.
  • BYU-Idaho Scholarship(s) – The entire amount of your scholarship(s) will be cancelled and you will be required to return all of the funds.

NOTEYou must be registered for Second Block classes by the Financial Aid Determination Date, in order for your total credits to count toward your financial aid. Waitlisted or audited classes do NOT count. You must be enrolled in the class.


After Financial Aid Determination Date:

  • If you completely withdraw or reduce your credits after the Financial Aid Determination Date you will not be required to return your university scholarships.
  • If you completely withdraw or reduce your credits after the Financial Aid Determination Date your Pell grants and student loans will be evaluated to determine how much you are required to repay and the withdrawn courses will be checked for participation.
  • If you fail all of your courses (with “F” or “UW” grades) your courses will also be checked for participation and you may have to return all or a portion of your funds to the university.
  • Additionally, if you withdraw, you will be considered withdrawn from the university and will be required to reapply and be readmitted to continue your enrollment at BYU-Idaho. *If you drop any or all of your semester classes after the Financial Aid Determination Date, you will receive "W" grades on your transcript.  Additionally, if you withdraw from all of your semester classes and it is an on-track semester, you will be considered withdrawn from the university and will be required to reapply and be readmitted to continue your enrollment at BYU-Idaho.  For additional information about academic and registration deadlines, please review the Academic Catalog and Academic Deadlines at www.byui.edu/srr.
