Checklist for Your Formatting
After you've finished your paper, review the following questions to make sure your formatting is correct:
- Do you have your name, your teacher's name, your class, and the date double spaced in the top left corner of your first page?
- Do you have a centered title on the first page of your paper?
- Is your title in the same font and font size with no underline or italics?
- Do you have one inch margins on all sides?
- Is your paper left justified?
- Do you have a header on the top right corner of each page with your last name and the current page number?
- Is your paper in the same font and size?
- Is your paper double-spaced with no additional spaces between paragraphs?
- Do you have indented one tab at the beginning of each paragraph?
- Do you have only one space after your periods? Or two as directed by your professor?
Checklist for Your Works-Cited List
After you've finished your paper, review the following questions to make sure your works-cited list is correct:
- Does the works-cited list begin on a seperate page at the end of the paper/report?
- Is the works-cited list in the same font and size as the rest of the paper?
- Is the works-cited list double-spaced?
- Do you have a header that includes your last name and page number in the upper right corner?
- Is the title Works Cited capitalized and centered at the top of the page?
- Has every source cited in the paper been included in the works-cited list?
- Are all entries in alphabetical order by the authors' last names? (For works with no author listed, alphabetize by the first word of the entry ignoring A, An, or The.)
- Does each entry have a hanging indent? (Indent all but the first line of each entry 1/2 inch or five spaces.)
- Have you maintained double-spacing?
- Have you double-checked your entries for accuracy?
- Do you have only one space after periods?
