Each semester BYU-I English majors and minors with an interest in creative writing are invited to apply for a three-day, off-campus creative writing workshop with English faculty. Held at the Sky Mountain Lodge, near Victor, Idaho, the workshop allows student-writers to gather, write, and share their work in a constructive environment. Long blocks of individual writing time are provided, as well as time for sharing with peers and one-on-one guidance from English faculty. Transportation and food are provided. Because this is a school-sponsored activity, excused absence forms are provided to participants.
How to Apply: Application forms are available at the English Department office and here. Simply turn in an application form stapled to a sample of your own best creative writing-3 to 5 poems, or 5 to 10 double-spaced pages of prose. (Handwritten submission are not accepted.) Submissions are evaluated by English Department creative writing faculty. (Preference will be given to those who have not attended before.) For more details and dates about submissions, please check out the Call for Applicant page.
