Class Outline

While parenting requires a personalized approach for each child, some principles are instrumental in the development of self-confident, converted children.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Our children need to know the gospel and be helped to apply it ("Becoming a Disciple," Elder Neal A. Maxwell, Ensign June 1996).
  2. Conversion takes place in family relationships (Elder Dallin Oaks, Ensign Nov. 2000).
  3. Help children focus on what they can do rather than on what is outside their control.
  4. Help children develop a deep sense of values by learning to prepare, teach one another, ponder and prove (BYU-Idaho Learning Model). Share examples of how to do this in your home.
  5. Help children do hard things by encouraging their efforts.
