Dr. Dan Moore grew up mostly in California, Virginia, and Utah. He and his wife, DaLynn, have seven children, including two sets of fraternal twins. Moore received both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degrees in geology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He received a doctorate degree in geology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Moore’s master’s degree emphasized igneous petrogenesis and his doctorate emphasized experimental geochemistry.
Moore has worked as a professor of Geology at Brigham Young University-Idaho since 2001. He has helped thousands of Latter-day Saints discover how to search for truth where science and religion meet.
He loves to learn and enjoys being with family and friends, eating, and watching movies. He is an active member of the LDS church. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina. He has also taught at the Missionary Training Center and has served in leadership and teaching capacities at the ward and stake level.
