Brad Adams fills one-year appointment in Communication Department
“I have been very excited to implement innovative learning while teaching here, such as the case study method recommended by President Clark,” said Brad Adams, a temporary addition to the Communication Department faculty.
Adams is teaching at BYU–Idaho on a one-year appointment in the department, covering for Brent Bean and another professor, both of whom are on leave this semester and next to get their PhD’s.
He teaches Interpersonal Communication, Conflict Management, Introduction to Advertising, Organizational Communication, and Organizational Consulting. Adams has a master’s degree in Business Administration and before coming here to fill in as an instructor, he was a manager consultant for Ernst and Young. He also has worked at the Covey Leadership Center.
Adams has learned how hard a member of the faculty must work. He has the responsibility of advising as well as preparing and teaching classes, but he has really enjoyed his time with the students and realizes their great capabilities.
The students in Adams’ classes also enjoy his teaching abilities. A student in his advertising class said, “He actually cares about his students and is very into our outside lives, like after Halloween we spent some time in class sharing our stories. As a teacher he is concerned about his students and their future careers, always giving us tips on getting and keeping a job.”
Adams grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was originally born in California, but was raised overseas in Puerto Rico, Canada, Iceland, Scotland, and Belgium. Rexburg may seem small after traveling the world, but Adams says he really enjoys living here. His wife was born in Driggs, and is a Ricks Alumnus, and former Student Body Officer. They are happily married with four children between the ages of 6 and 10.
