PRSSA has many highlights Winter Semester
By Steven Hopkins
The BYU-Idaho chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America participated in many activities this winter semester.
PRSSA welcomed Rob Clarke from the accounting faculty February 15 to teach them the importance of, and how to read, research of a company’s financial records. Students learned how to interpret the numbers to determine growth, and possible future outlooks for a company. He also taught them a few interviewing skills.
On March 15 PRSSA members participated in an etiquette dinner to learn proper manners while eating with a client.
Also, three teams from Mike Cannon’s Comm 435 Public Relations Campaigns class presented their researched campaigns at the Bateman Competition the last week in April. Each team presented a proposal for a real Family Caregiver company.
Next semester, the group hopes to publish a newsletter and continue with their activities, while preparing for the National PRSSA Convention in October that will be held in Philadelphia, Pa.
The members have elected a new president and three new vice presidents for the Summer 2007 semester: Cheron Cole of Rexburg, Idaho as president, Levi Pardon, also from Rexburg, Idaho, as vice president over activities, Cameron Rowley from Richardson, Texas as vice president of member services, and Sarah Dadson from Accra North, Ghana as publicity vice president.
Outgoing President Cheyenne Harris will graduate in April and is due to have her first child in May.
Kylie Jackson, Justin Dalling and Jessica Rindlisbacher have been released from their service as vice presidents this semester.
