Wi-Fi Calling

Wi-Fi Calling is a service for smartphones that provides enhanced coverage in locations that have limited or no mobile network coverage to make and receive phone calls. Android devices are also able to use Messaging services (SMS/MMS) over Wi-Fi. iPhone supports SMS or iMessage over Wi-Fi. MMS Messages for iPhone (Pictures, Videos, and Group Messages) require mobile coverage. Wi-Fi calling is a free service when calling to a US, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico number. International rates still apply for international numbers. It is available on most smart phones released after fall 2014.

A mobile hotspot, sometimes called tethering, is a feature on most smartphones that lets you share the phone's data connection with other Wi-Fi devices. Essentially, your phone creates its own wireless network, providing data to nearby tablets, laptops, e-readers and iPods. Connecting a device via hotspot is the same process as connecting to a regular Wi-Fi network.
