Youth Programs: Code of Conduct
The BYU-Idaho Youth Program experience
Our youth programs seek to provide an environment conducive to the creation of positive experiences for and by the youth. Counselors are taught to look for learning opportunities during activities and to seek to build leadership skills and develop faith.
We would like to highlight a few important policies that we want to make sure are clear to each of our patrons.
Code of Conduct
Honor Code
While participants are attending a BYU-Idaho sponsored program, they are required to conform to the Honor Code of BYU-Idaho. The Honor Code includes modest dress and grooming standards for activities with the ban on shorts, capri pants, and flip-flops on campus.
Disciplinary Actions
Our youth programs seek to provide an exceptional experience for all involved; however, we do reserve the option to dismiss youth from the program. Travel adjustments will be made at the parents' or legal guardian's expense.
There are five major rules that if the youth will not follow will lead to dismissal from the program and other possible courses of action. These rules are the following:
- Obey the Law of Chastity as outlined in the Strength For Youth pamphlet. (A copy may be requested during registration.) Any type of inappropriate relationships will lead to parent notification and dismissal from program.
- Obey the Word of Wisdom or refrain from cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, or any illegal substances. Any type of substance abuse will be turned over to local authorities and dismissal from program.
- Obey the local laws and respect the program, campus, and local authorities. Any vandalism and deviant behavior will be turned over to local authorities and dismissal from program.
- Build healthy relationships with everyone in the program and do not harm others. Any threats or attacks will be turned over to local authorities and dismissal from program.
- Participate in the program and do not leave the campus or program locations without permission. Any type of vagrant or running away behavior will lead to parent notification and dismissal from program.
If you have questions about any of these rules, please contact us.
