Distant Site Student Teacher Placement: Main Info
What is a Distant Site Student Teacher Placement?
Students have the option of student teaching in a BYU-Idaho approved site away from campus. Approved sites are South Salt Lake and Davis Counties in Utah, Clark County (Las Vegas) in Nevada, Mesa/Gilbert School Districts in Arizona, and Meridian/Eagle School Districts in Boise. Placement outside of the approved areas are considered special placements and will require a student teaching exception form.
Cost Information
Students will be registered for ED 492 Student Teaching in Public Schools, which is a 10 credit hour course. Students will be charged the current tuition rate per credit.
Housing costs will be slightly more at distant sites than in the Rexburg area.
Housing for Single Students

Married student teachers are required to aquire their own housing at any location and are welcome to student teach in any of the approved distant sites.
