Non-Credit Classes: Main Info

What Are Non-Credit Classes?

Non-Credit classes offered through Continuing Education are a great resource for those seeking to develop their interests in a variety of areas; including: computer training, cooking, gardening, traveling, and many more.

When Are Non-Credit Classes Offered?

Non-Credit classes are offered throughout the year, beginning each semester. Spring/Summer Classes will be available at 8 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009.

Participation Requirements

All community patrons and employees as well as students are invited to take Non-Credit classes; however, individual classes may have age limits. For example: The Learn to Swim Program is geared toward young children while auto repair courses are structured for adults.

Note: At least ten people must be enrolled in each class in order for a class to carry. Invite a friend to attend with you.

Cost of each class varies. Registration is available online, by mail, in person, or by phone, approximately one month prior to the beginning of each semester. Registrations are accepted until 12 noon the day class begins.

FALL 2009 CLASSES

Employee Tuition Policy

To view the BYU-Idaho Non-Credit Employee Tuition Policy, please go to the link below:

                             Employee Tuition Policy

Types of classes which will be covered by the tuition policy are:

  1. Religion classes
  2. Professional Development classes: [computer training classes, GMAT and GRE, along with other Graduate School Entrance Exams (full-time employees only), and First Aid/CPR]
  3. Physical Well-Being classes: (specifically, Water Aerobics, Yoga, Muscle Strength and Body Sculpting, Cross Training Fitness, and Floor Aerobics)

All other classes are classified as "leisure learning" and do not fit under the guidelines of the tuition policy. Offerings would vary each semester but would include classes such as Woodworking, Card Making, Beginning Knitting, Mountain Biking, Digital Photography, Playmill classes, Pottery, cooking classes, etc.

NOTE: When you register, in order to have the waiver properly activated, you must use your NetID. Spouses must have a NetID in order to receive the waiver. By putting in the NetID, your contact information will automatically come up. Any changes can then be made to the information.  If entered without the NetID, you will not get the waiver, and you will have created a second record for yourself on our system. Online registration requires completion of the entire registration process which includes printing a receipt to be truly enrolled in the class. Extra fees are not covered by the tuition waiver.

Withdrawl and Refund

A $5 processing fee will be charged on all withdrawals. This will apply whether the class has had a tuition waiver granted or not. If an employee or the spouse of an employee withdraws, the processing fee will automatically be charged to the employee's account. A refund less the processing fee will be given if notification of withdrawl is given one working day before the class is to begin (Exception is in the case of  the Playmill classes where 48 hours is required.)
