1. What is Campus Education Week?

It is a Continuing Education Program provided for participants age 14 years and older. The program takes place on the BYU-Idaho Campus in Rexburg, Idaho, and at BYU in Provo, Utah. Many educational classes are provided encompassing religion, family, marriage, education, and additional topics. The program is intended mainly for adults; although, youth classes are available.

You are invited to feel the spirit of the BYU-Idaho Education Week program, enjoy being instructed by knowledgeable and experienced faculty, and gain a first-hand understanding of this exceptional program. (Return to questions)

2. How important are Evaluation Forms?

The evaluation forms are read by some of the Campus Education Week staff members. These forms give an insight into how to improve Education Week and help all participants have a better experience. All suggestions and ideas are taken into consideration and are very much appreciated. (Return to questions)

3. Why is Campus Education Week held at this time of the year?

Education Week requires the use of many buildings and rooms on campus. To accommodate the maximum amount of participants and still allow BYU-Idaho students to gain their education, Education Week is scheduled after the summer term. (Return to questions)

4. How is housing assigned?

Education Week on-campus housing is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited housing is reserved for participants with disabilities and special needs. All beds are raised approximately four feet off the ground.  Participants are requested to make other housing arrangements if they are unable to climb into a raised bed. Groups are encouraged to register together. If participants would like to be housed in one unit with a specific group of friends or family, the group must consist of at least four participants. Couples will be assigned to a private two-bedroom apartment. Individuals will be assigned with a same-gender participant unless a roommate request is submitted. (Return to questions)

5. How can I register for campus housing?

A registration brochure with campus housing information became available on March 1. Those who have attended Education Week last year or who have asked to be on the mailing list should receive a pamphlet in the mail. The registration information in the brochure can be completed and returned to the BYU-Idaho Continuing Education office, or registration can be done online. (Return to questions)

6. Why are children under the age of 14 and babies not allowed?

Children can easily disrupt a classroom. To ensure a learning spiritual atmosphere, the policy of no children or babies in the classroom is enforced. (Return to questions)

7. Why are Education Week name badges nontransferable?

In order to attend Education Week, each participant has to be registered. Several options are available including housing, full-program pass, or a one-day pass. This program encompasses over 2000 participants. The name badge is used to track people for emergency situations, refunds, or housing assignments. (Return to questions)

8. Why can't lectures be recorded by participants?

This is a Church Educational System policy. This policy helps to maintain copyright infringement laws. Copyrights can cover printed works, ideas, arrangements, and other creative works. (Return to questions)

9. Why don't you put popular speakers in larger rooms?

Several factors are considered when placing speakers in rooms. We try to determine which faculty will require a larger venue based on their experience, evaluations, titles, and topics. Predicting if a topic may or may not draw a large crowd each year can be difficult. (Return to questions)

10. Why can't classes be in one location?

Education Week is scheduled between semesters. Not only are large-capacity classrooms limited, but they may be in use by other programs. Major construction also helps determine what is available at the time of the program. Some situations are out of our control, and we make the best possible use of what is provided. (Return to questions)

11. Why can't I save seats?

Some classes may be more popular than others. To be fair, we are using a first-come, first-serve approach and ask that you do not save seats. Take the time to get acquainted with those around you. (Return to questions)

12. Why can't I bring food to class?

Food is distracting to those who are trying to listen to the lecture. We ask that you show courtesy towards others by eating your meals and snacks before class. (Return to questions)

13. Why can't I attend class if all the seats are taken?

Due to safety concerns, maximum seating has been determined for each room. Building fire codes will not allow more people capacity than classroom size. (Return to questions)

14. What part of Education Week will be broadcast this year?

At this time, Education Week at BYU-Idaho will not be re-broadcast. (Return to questions)
