Introduction
The Department of Art offers studies in the following areas of emphasis: art education, art history, ceramics, drawing, graphic design, illustration, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture. These emphasis areas are designed to provide preparation for a professional career choice as well as personal artistic enjoyment. Classes are also offered which fulfill the Arts requirement for General Education.

NOTE:
1. Art 110, Drawing I, should be taken by all Art Majors their first semester, if possible, as the first required course in the Art Core area.

2. All Art and Photography Majors must select Art 101 as their General Education, GE requirement in the Arts category.

3. Art 397, Art Seminar, is required to be taken four seperate semesters. It is recommended that three of these be completed during the freshman and sophomore years.

4. In the General Education (GE) area you must declare yourself as either a Bachelor of Art (BA), or Bachelor of Science (BS). BA requires 11 credits of Foreign Language with fewer Science credits. BS requires extra Science credits but not Foreign Language credits.

5. All declared Art Majors, with the exception of the 2-year AAS degree in Photograhpy and Art Education, are automatically admitted into the Integrated Studio Art Degree.

6. Admittance into the Bachelor of Fine Art Degree (BFA) is through a portfolio review at the end of the sophomore year. Reviews are held in March and August.

7. A minimum GPA of 2.7 in major courses is requierd for an Art degree. No 'D' credit will be accepted in Art or Photo classes.
