Expedition FAQs




  1. Are the expeditions open to all majors?
    • Yes, all majors are encouraged to apply. Students will travel in groups based on career interests and will be led by faculty & staff.

  2. Do I have to set up my own appointments?
    • No, all schedules will be coordinated by the faculty & staff; however students are encouraged to be pro-active and set up their own appointments.

  3. What is covered in the cost?
    • Airfare, hotel stay, and car rental fees are all include, all other incidentals including meals and entertainment will be the student’s responsibility.

  4. I’m looking for a job not an internship, can I still attend?
    • Yes, all students are eligible and encouraged to attend; in fact, around 25% of the students who attended previously were seeking entry-level positions.

  5. What are the requirements to be eligible to attend the expedition?
    • A 3.0 G.P.A. and around 45 credits complete, also a sincere interest in interning or working in the city applied for.

  6. What companies will we visit?
    • That depends on the mix of students who are accepted and their career interests. The faculty and staff will do their best to set up appointments that are most applicable and of most interest to the students. A list of potential company visits are available on each cities individual site.

  7. I am from the area, --can I meet up with group and stay with my family?
    • No. All students are required to stay at the reserved hotel for logistical reasons. Students who meet us are required to stay with the group the entire trip and attend all meetings including the evening fireside. The cost will be significantly discounted.

  8. How many students are accepted?
    • The Internship & Career Services office can accept up to 50 students for each expedition.

  9. Can I attend more than one expedition?
    • Yes, but if you have attended an expedition previously, priority will be given to other students who have not, all things being equal.

  10. How will I be charged?
    • On the expedition application form, you will be required to mark the “Billing Authorization” box. Marking this box constitutes your authorization to have your student account charged for the cost of the expedition, assuming you are accepted to go.

  11. Will I be able to see the sites of the city?
    • An evening fireside is typically planned on each trip, however free time is available for students to experience the sites of the city each evening.
