Idaho Work-Study – Employers



Definition and Purpose

An employment program sponsored by the State of Idaho designed to encourage Idaho employers to hire Idaho resident students in jobs related to their course of academic study. Its purpose is to develop students professionally by supplementing their academic studies with progressively responsible and related work experience.


Benefits to Students

Students gain responsible work experience, develop professionally, have a source of income, and are more marketable when graduating.


Benefits to Employers

A percentage of overhead expenses for qualified students is reimbursed each month by BYU-Idaho through Idaho State funding.


Steps to Participate

  1. Read forms below for specifics regarding program requirements.
  2. Advertise the job opening. Consider listing a requirement that students must be Idaho residents pursuing a course of study related to the job.
  3. Upon selecting and hiring an Idaho resident student, submit to BYU-Idaho's HR office the Agreement and Residency forms listed below. Or, contact us if you are unsure if a potential hire will qualify for the program.
