Doug is a graduate of the University of Utah (1967 Economics) and the George Washington School of Law (1971, JD). He is a partner in the Northern Virginia law firm of Tate, Bywater & Fuller PLC where he has practiced law for the past 40 years. His church experience includes Priest and Teachers Quorum advisor, Seminary Teacher, Counselor in several Bishoprics, Bishop of a Young Single Adult ward, High Priest Group Leader and Ward Mission Leader. Doug presently serves as Priest Quorum Advisor. He enjoys sailing (including extensive ocean sailing), skiing and woodworking.

Ginny grew up in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah where she and Doug met and were married in the Salt Lake Temple. The Bywaters have 4 children and 12 grandchildren. Ginny has served as Primary president, YW advisor, ward and stake YW president, stake Relief Society president, Activities chairman, and currently is serving as ward Relief Society president. She has also spent several years serving on the Cultural Arts Committee at the Washington, D.C. Temple Visitors' Center planning events and designing displays. Ginny's interests include quilting, playing the piano, gardening and reading. Family sailing trips are highlights of each year.
