Richard (Dick) and Sharon Rees currently live in San Tan Valley, AZ which is on the eastern outskirts of the Phoenix metropolitan area. They are the parents of nine children, four of whom live nearby in Phoenix, three in Utah, and one each in the Portland and Detroit areas. They have 38 grandchildren and one great grandson.
While the Rees’s are both of pioneer ancestry, their parents both left Utah early in their married life and raised their families in the “mission field”. Dick calls St. Louis home and Sharon was born and raised in Atlanta. Following their schooling at BYU Dick and Sharon returned to Sharon’s home town of Atlanta where they continued their family. They lived there for seven years before moving to St. Louis where they lived for 24 years. They moved to Lehi, Utah in 2000 and to Phoenix in 2010.
Dick has worked in a number of businesses including as sales manager for a service company and as manager of the Bishop’s storehouse in St. Louis. He has also been a stockbroker and mortgage loan officer as well as the manager of a small investment company. Sharon has devoted most of her life to raising her children but, in later years, she worked as a Chief Deputy of the Recorder of Deeds and operated her own book distribution business.
Over the years, Dick and Sharon have served in many Ward and Stake callings including seminary and Sunday school teachers as well as serving in Bishopric, stake and auxiliary leadership positions. They served as ordinance workers in the St. Louis, Timpanogos, and Mesa Temples and have served as Senior Missionaries, in the Palmyra Temple, and as the office couple for the Bucharest Romania, Mission. They are anxious to serve in there new calling as BYUI service missionaries.
