Darrell and Donna, native Texans, started life together in the same hospital nursery, moving on to the same kindergarten class and staying together through school. They were married and both graduated from the University of Houston, Darrell with a bachelor’s degree in business and Donna’s degree in Elementary Education. They moved to Dallas where Darrell started his career working for an oil company and Donna started teaching at a private school while completing a master’s degree as an Educational Diagnostician from Texas Woman’s University. They started their family, having a daughter and a son before finding the Church. Shortly after their baptism, while Donna was a stay at home mom, Darrell changed careers and became a firefighter and a paramedic. Their family increased by two with another daughter and son and they were sealed together in the Manti Temple. Their oldest daughter attended Ricks College before moving on to BYU.
Darrell made a career change, returning to the University of North Texas for a degree in Emergency Management, becoming the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Garland. He was one of the first ten managers in the nation to be both state and nationally certified in Emergency Management.
After teaching a number of years, Donna changed careers and started working for LDS Employment Resource Services as the Employment Specialist/Associate Manager for the Dallas Office. She specializes in resumes and interviewing. She has been able to assist most of their children and their spouses with career changes upon their graduating from college.
Darrell has served as a high councilor, bishop, in a stake presidency, and regional welfare secretary. He is now the High Priest Group Leader in his ward. Donna has served as ward and stake Relief Society President and Stake Public Affairs Director and now teaches Sunday School.
