Successful Student Web Entrepreneurs at BYU-Idaho

 

One of the Newel K. Whitney Society's focuses is providing resources and experiences that allow business students to fulfill their entrepreneurial dreams. While not every student in the Business Department will go on to start his or her own business, many successful entrepreneurs have emerged out of the program.

 

Web Business is growing in terms of number of businesses, volume of Internet sales, and sheer number of inventions and ideas. The following are a few successful web entrepreneurs that have emerged from the business program:

 

Trent Clawson started a college housing website at Smart-Housing.com. It is designed to help university students find affordable student housing , buy and sell contracts, and connect with housing owners. Starting with BYU-Idaho, Smart-Housing plans on expanding to other universities and colleges.


Dustin McKay started a custom skins and decals store online. His products include vinyl laptop covers , video game skins, and custom decals.

 

Shane D. Snow started a website design business, Brave Media, and has designed and built websites to several local businesses and dozens of national businesses. He has since expanded, doing wholesale business printing including flyer, postcard, and brochure printing at BravePrinting.com. He is also a partner in a cross interest matching social network site that will help you build a list of hobbies and compare them to your friends' hobbies. The website will be launched in summer 2008 at WiseCross.com.

 

Bryan Williams is an Adobe Flash genius so he started his own podcast that evolved into a wildly popular website for free flash tutorials.


James C. Zolman started The Zolman Organization, LLC which is a parent company for several ventures including semvironment, a ppc management consultancy; e-commerce businesses under the Zolman Organization, LLC name include a log splitter store, rototiller store, camping tents store, inflatable boat store, wood stove store, tankless water heater store and many more will open in the upcoming years.

 

Bo Porter started a duffel bag sales website, BigDuffles.com, and sells thousands of duffel bag a year as a middle man, sourcing his products from China.
