American Advertising Federation

Description: As the "Unifying Voice for Advertising," the American Advertising Federation (AAF), headquartered in Washington, D.C., is the trade association that represents 50,000 professionals in the advertising industry. AAF's college-chapter program has 210 affiliated chapters throughout the United States and abroad. AAF provides numerous programs to guide its college students through advertising curriculum and job placement. AAF's programs include the following: internship opportunities, scholarships, career guides, industry mentors and networking with top agency and corporate recruiters. BYU-Idaho’s chapter of AAF will be participating in a regional competition in Portland, Oregon during the winter semester and will also be sponsoring campus competitions this fall to help students prepare for international competitions.

Description: The Public Relations Student Society of America is a branch of the professional organization PRSA. Description: The Recreation Leadership Society’s purpose is to provide Recreation Leadership students career information, opportunity for professional development and to celebrate majors’ participation and achievement. This society strives to develop and maintain a student service emphasis that addresses the changing internal and external needs of Recreation Leadership majors. It also encourages student participation in regional and national conferences and seeks to regularly evaluate Society Services and programs. As a society, it seeks to discover and maximize the potential within the field of Recreation and provide motivation and recognition within RL majors to enhance the overall skills and leadership. Description: SIFE offers university students the opportunity to apply what they are learning in the classroom to solve real world problems. Through the process of teaching and serving others, they catch a glimpse of the true scope of their personal potential and are forever changed. As they go about the process of organizing their team, developing education projects and competing in a global competition, they develop teamwork, leadership, and communication skills far beyond those of the average university student. The way to get involved is just come prepared to create, learn and apply all that we know.

Description: Rixida, a DVD-ROM history, adds to but replaces the traditional yearbook through digital interactivity. Developed for students by students, Rixida gives its student creators real-life, hands-on experience. As a Communication Department class, Rixida offers experience and training to all students who want to learn, regardless what their declared major is. Rixida is looking for motivated students who are wanting to learn marketable skills. Opportunities are available with the: art staff (graphic design), photography staff, public relations staff (campus relations and advertising), technical staff (programming and Web devloping), video staff, and writing staff (script, story and content writers).

Description: The Organizational Society, Omicron Sigma Kappa, was designed for students to come together to share and learn valuable information on career skills and opportunities in the organizational communication field. Tips on finding internships, interviewing and becoming the best-qualified product is the biggest goal of the society. It also strives to turn what they learn in the classroom into real life experiences. Students of all ages and majors are invited to attend. Some of the many students in the society are studying Communication, Sociology, Psychology and Business Management, just to name a few. Omicron Sigma Kappa has something for everyone.
