Printing
PrintingChoice.com is an entrepreneurial venture started by Shane Snow in 2008. Shane is an alumnus of the BYU-Idaho College of Business & Communication as of July 2008, as well as a member of the Newel K. Whitney Society. After participating in several business competitions, Shane has been motivated to start several online ventures, one of which is this printing search engine.
What is Printing Choice?
In a nutshell, the website is a place where businesses who are looking for commercial printers to find the best prices for printing their particular product online. For example, if a company wanted to create a direct mail postcard, it could select 4" x 6" postcards , 2 sided printing, and Next Day turnaround, and PrintingChoice would generate a list of the lowest priced online printers for that specific job, along with alternate results for cheaper prints at longer turnaround times.
How Does The Site Make Money?
Printing Choice uses affiliate programs and contextual ads to monetize the traffic that comes to use its service. Every time a person orders prints online after performing a search on PrintingChoice.com and clicking on a preferred price, Printing Choice makes a commission. Additionally, people who click on the Google Adsense ads for printing that are displayed throughout the site earn the site a few cents for every click, paid for by the Adsense advertisers who buy the click traffic from PrintingChoice.com
Why Online Printing?
Commercial printing is basically a commodity these days, and competition is quite fierce. With so many companies competing on price, and so many different printing options, the idea of a price search seemed like a naturally good way to get a lot of people to come to a website. Once you have a lot people coming to any website, you can make money. With this business model, Printing Choice turns a highly competitive industry into relatively easy commissions by providing a valuable service to both customers and the printing companies with whom they connect potential buyers.
PrintingChoice.com is just one example of an entrepreneurial idea that came from a BYU-Idaho student, based on what he learned in the IBC, IME, and especially with the Newel K. Whitney Society.
