Live Audio

Sister Eyring speaks at Devotional, Fall semester.

The full-time audio staff works to mix the best sound possible for the audience and performers on stage. The performers range from those exploring new talents, to professional entertainers and LDS church leaders. Whether it be a soloist one day or a full choir with orchestration the next, there is always a variety of challenges and plenty of creative opportunities for our full-time audio engineers and students. Given the large diversity of performance venues on campus, there are many types of events where full-time employees mentor students in a hands-on-learning environment.

Production Audio

Two students work in the audio room

Following the event, the audio engineers edit the recorded sound. This becomes a critical componant for the video available for replay, for downloads on the BYU-Idaho web site, and for BYU-TV with its broadcast specificiations.

Master Control

Student works in the Audio control room.

Master Control is the hub for all of the connections coming from various audio sources, multiple cameras, and the control boards and then pushing out the appropriate feeds to the public. From the Master Control room in the BYU-Idaho Center Production Suite, the engineers and directors expertly key into details and quickly make any adjustments necessary for a professional, quality end product.

Master Control handles productions within the BYU-Idaho Center, but also control the broadcasting between buildings on campus and webcasting and live streaming to the world.

Media Transfer

Recorded events and duplication are handled through Media Transfer. Video and audio copies of devotionals and other productions may be downloaded from the BYU-Idaho website or purchased at the University Store. BYU-Idaho departments may order CDs and DVDs directly from mediatransfer@byui.edu.

Media Transfer is also responsible for encoding videos so they can be streamed and used in classrooms.
